  • My password doesn't work on a school issued device?

If you were issued a device by the school district since the closure. You password was reset by the IT Department when preparing the device for home use.

There should be a label with your new password located on the device. Please contact support if you cannot locate or if password is not working.

  • What is the best way to have mulitple children on the same laptop or desktop?

It will be important that student users Sign Out of Teams and Quit all Browsers before the next student user signs in, and it may be necessary to clear your cookies. Even better, we recommend that parents set up the device so that there is a different “profile” for each student. This way each student will log on to the device as a unique user and should avoid the above Sign Out/Sign In issues that come from the different Internet browsers. Doing a Google search for how to add different profiles on your particular device is one way to find directions for this. If you continue to have challenges with permissions in Teams, please complete and submit the ASD Tech Support Needed Form. Some helpful links:

  • How do I edit a Word document in Teams app?

Microsoft has temporarily turned off the ability for students to edit Microsoft Word documents directly in the Teams app due to the enormous increase in worldwide Teams network traffic.

To edit a Word document, you simply need to open it in Word Online or Word Desktop application. Follow these steps to do so:

    1. Students click on the “Assignments” tab, click on the assignment’s name, and then click on the document name to open it.
    2. Go to the top right corner of the screen and click the three dots to the right of the close button.
    3. Select either “Open in Browser” or “Open in Desktop App”. I recommend selecting desktop app (as long as they are working on a machine that has Word installed).
    4. From there, the student will be able to edit, save and complete their work.

  • Why do I have to request access to my Team's documents and assignments?

Students sharing laptops, desktops and tablets may run across this problem. The issue is that one student did not completely sign out of their Office 365 account.

It will be important that student users Sign Out of Teams and Quit all Browsers before the next student user signs in, and it may be necessary to clear your cookies. Even better, we recommend that parents set up the device so that there is a different “profile” for each student.
